They participated in lots of Titanic related activities from designing a lifejacket to building a model out of Lego with some green screen poses aboard the ship in between! A very big thank you to Mrs Harkness for preparing all the refreshments for our Titanic “afternoon tea”.

The residents loved meeting our pupils who enjoyed getting a preview of the new facility, even getting to play some games with the residents. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome and we hope that this is the start of a great community partnership. The residents loved meeting Nando too!

- [New Zen Den Area!](https://carrickmodelps.co.uk/new-zen-den-area/): P7 were the first to try out the newly installed seating in our Zen Den Area beside the playground (behind the P4 mobiles) at breaktime today. It is hoped this area can be used for many different purposes including a quieter area to play tabletop games or draw etc at lunchtime. A very big thank you to the PTA for fundraising for this area, for the grant kindly received from the Carrickfergus Literary & Scientific Society & (Union Hall) Trust Fund & also to the Superdads who have been involved in clearing out this area & then constructing shelter for it!

They were learning how to be a good buddy in preparation for meeting the new Primary 1s in September.They learnt games that they can teach in the playground and how to nurture their new P1 friends. They are very excited about being big P7s and all of the important school jobs they will be involved with next year!

The crew set sail for the pirate play park, enjoyed some tasty ice cream treats, and had a treasure-filled day of fun and adventure. Although a little rain drifted across the seas, it certainly didn’t dampen our pirates’ spirits!

Their teachers had planned some amazing activities and everyone entered into the spirit of the day! Thank you parents for the creative costumes, make-up and hair styles; it really helped bring the topic to life! Nando even became an Egyptian labradoodle today!

This is an incredible achievement for Theo and we wish him the best of luck for this exciting and well deserved adventure. Theo is a Model pupil inside and outside school and we couldn’t be happier for him! Doesn’t he look dashing in his new official kit?! 😁

- [Primary 7 - Trip to York](https://carrickmodelps.co.uk/primary-7-trip-to-york/): Primary 7 had a fantastic time during their trip to York.  They visited the Etihad Stadium and played mini golf on Monday. They visited Eden Camp Modern History Museum on Tuesday morning , explored York city centre, visited the Jorvik Viking centre and did some shopping on Tuesday afternoon and finally went bowling on Tuesday evening.  On Wednesday they had a brilliant day spinning  upside down, fowards, backwards & round and round at Alton Towers.  On their journey home they stopped via the town with the longest name in Europe – Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.  What a fabulous trip! ⭐️

- [Buses](https://carrickmodelps.co.uk/buses/): We are delighted that we have Translink buses that serve our school at the end of each school day from Monday – Thursday. We have a bus at 2.00pm which has a bus escort to assist the children and we have 3 buses at 3.00pm. There is no bus service on a Friday due to our finishing times. Bus Routes Our bus routes are available to view below but if you have any further questions please speak to Mrs Smythe in the school office.

- [Nando](https://carrickmodelps.co.uk/nando/): Nando is our school Therapy Dog trained and supported by Assistance Dogs NI. He works alongside his handler, Mrs Boyd and is usually found in our school library! Nando has brothers and sisters across other school in Northern Ireland who also provide AAT in their setting.  Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is simply more than spending time with an animal. It involves specific therapeutic goals and strategies and outcome measures. Assistance Dogs NI have several Animal Assisted Therapy programmes throughout Northern Ireland.  Nando and Mrs Boyd work alongside groups of children or individuals who may need a little bit of time. School staff love him too!  Nando […]

- [Transfer to Year 8](https://carrickmodelps.co.uk/transfer-to-year-8/): We are often asked which post-primary schools our pupils transfer to at the end of Primary 7. Our pupils are encouraged to choose the next school that suits them best. Most of our pupils will sit the SEAG test but some choose not to because they do not feel it is right for them. We will support every child with the next part of their educational journey.
