Primary 6 at Our School Primary 6 is one of the most exciting and important years in primary school. It’s a time when pupils build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy, developing the skills and confidence they’ll need for the future. But P6 is about so much more than that—it’s a year packed with curiosity and creativity through a wide range of World Around Us (WAU) topics. From exploring the fascinating world of the Vikings, to understanding the incredible workings of the Digestive System, and even investigating the science behind Flight, P6 offers opportunities to learn, question, and discover in engaging and hands-on ways.

This year is also a vital stepping stone towards P7 and beyond, as pupils begin to prepare for the transition to post-primary education. Developing self-management and independence becomes a key focus, helping children take greater responsibility for their learning and build the resilience and organisational skills they’ll need for the next stage of their journey.

Adding to the excitement, our P2–P6 Buddies Programme gives pupils the chance to shine as leaders and mentors, fostering confidence and empathy as they support younger learners. P6 is also packed with unforgettable experiences, including a fascinating trip to the Aviation Society, where pupils see flight in action, and our superb residential at the Share Centre, which combines outdoor adventure, teamwork, and fun with learning—creating memories that will last a lifetime.

P6 is truly a year where learning comes alive, friendships grow stronger, and pupils take big steps toward their future success!
