Using ICT

Children develop their technical skills in a range of types of ICT, such as publishing, presenting, coding, managing data, art and design, music and sound; and film and animation.

Key Areas of Learning

  • Explore - using digital tools to investigate, enquire and solve problems.
  • Express – creating, presenting and sharing ideas through multimedia and digital formats.
  • Exchange - communicating and collaborating effectively using digital platforms.
  • Evaluate - reflecting on the effectiveness of digital tools and processes.
  • Exhibit - showcasing learning and achievements through digital outputs.

At the Model, we are fortunate to have a bespoke ICT suite, a class set of ipads and a class set of chromebooks.

Our pupils can also demonstrate their ICT skills through the Dreamspace Ambassador Programme and the digital leaders roles.

E-safety

We place a strong emphasis on digital responsibility and safeguarding. Pupils are taught how to protect their personal information, respect others online, and make informed choices in the digital environment. We celebrate Internet Safety Day every year and every year group embark upon activities to make them E-safety aware.

The PSNI visits our Primary 7 pupils each year as many of them are bought mobile phones for going to ‘big school.’

At Carrick Model we aim to ensure that children are well-prepared for future learning, employment and participation in an increasingly digital society.
